Can I talk Kehlani?
Here’s what I know. She’s hilarious. Like straight comedy. Her social media accounts have me rolling. She comes off real humble.
She’s from Oakland. YEE!
She’s a Taurus.
Former dancer (before her knee injury) and art school student.
Her mother and father were addicts. She was raised by her aunt while her mom was in and out of jail.
She got a lot of publicity recently for her suicide attempt. Whatever the motivation was she walked through it with grace. She speaks about depression and acknowledges real pain and I have a lot of respect for that especially from someone in the public eye. That’s why I like her 24:07 track, it’s real and it’s got depth.
I am late on the Kehlani train. Historically I honestly haven’t been into RB unless one of my homegirls was bumping it. Something about the mellow smooth tunes that made me feel like taking a snooze. The closest thing I would get to RB songs were Sunday night oldies with my girl Paulina. Maybe my life is beginning to mellow out and so is my music taste. Recently I find myself listening to Kehlani and Jhene Aiko or some Bryson Tiller. There’s something about Kehlani’s personal dialogue and humor that makes me feel at home. She’s worth your time.
